Education and youth voice
PLACED provides authentic and inspiring education and youth engagement opportunities for young people aged 7 – 19. Working with clients committed to hearing the views of young people and our wider network, our programmes empower youth voice, increase knowledge, and support the development of skills.
Our rich and varied services can be run in-person or online and range from one-day workshops in schools or colleges, to extended programmes for teenagers.
Workshops provide creative educational activities that introduce young people to ideas around the built environment, building their knowledge, developing creative skills and opening-up pathways into careers.
Youth engagement activities focus on amplifying voices, encouraging active citizenship, and capturing young peoples’ insights about local developments and priorities.

PLACED Academy
PLACED Academy is a free-to-access built environment education programme for 14-18 year olds. It is a demonstration of our values of diversifying participation and increasing conversation around place, supporting diversity in built environment careers. Made possible through the support of partners and sponsors, the programme focuses on developing wide-ranging skills and building self-esteem. Delivered over a period from eight weeks to 10 months, the Academy also offers a powerful way to engage with young people on live projects. Visit the Academy website for more details.
Youth engagement
Investment, regeneration and area transformation requires community buy-in, sensitive management and genuine engagement. PLACED can support you by developing programmes that gain meaningful insights from young people into your work. From one-day school workshops to extended outreach programmes, we work with young people to ensure their views are embedded in your project, creating significant social value and increasing ownership, along with increased project awareness amongst their peers, families and schools.
School workshops
We have wide-ranging experience developing and delivering workshops for primary and secondary schools, that support the national curriculum. Hands-on activities develop knowledge of the built environment, develop skills, and introduce young people to careers in the sector. From curriculum development to one-off workshops, we develop tailored sessions that meet the needs of schools and their pupils.
Alternative work experience
We develop and support tailored, sector specific work experience and insight programmes for young people. Whether you’re looking to promote the sector, develop a new CSR programme or grow your social value, our tailored programmes offer a structured alternative to work experience or school outreach and provide an excellent introduction to the built environment. We have developed programmes for partners from Capital&Centric and ISG to Regenda to develop knowledge, awareness and insights.
How we work
PLACED specialises in making sure that people who don’t traditionally have their voices heard can be part of the design and decision-making process, alongside active, vocal stakeholders. Our principles address the challenges that clients wanting to deliver engagement often face.
