Port Sunlight Village Trust – Planning For The Future
PLACED worked with Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT) to inform the Trust’s vision and strategic plan.
Port Sunlight is the model village founded by ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever in 1888. The Trust wanted to find out more about what was important to local people as they shaped their plans, building on a real love for this place.

In 2017, we worked with the Trust to:
- Engage residents in workshops to share their views on Port Sunlight, its environment and local services
- Produce an interactive and family friendly exhibition at Bridge Cottage, Port Sunlight as part of the National Heritage Open Days programme
- Run a workshop to translate findings into action plans
We engaged people of all ages from Port Sunlight and surrounding areas, and people shared ideas about what would make the village a better place. This included greening and growing projects, events and festivals, and community engagement.
Our findings and recommendations are helping Port Sunlight Village Trust to develop its plans and continue working with the community.
