House Of The Future – Bespoke Resources For Creative Education
The House of the Future Competition 2019 was open to pupils in years 5 and 6, to creatively consider what future homes should look and feel like. It was open to pupils from all primary schools in the Liverpool City Region.
The competition was run as part of a Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) initiative to promote, improve and raise the quality of design in the built environment. Its aim was to highlight and encourage awareness amongst children and young people of issues associated with good design processes, the environment, sustainability, low carbon and inclusivity.
PLACED developed a complete online resource to allow teachers to run the competition from the classroom. The website we created included lesson plans, a step-by-step guide to complete the activities, context for individual activities and the competition as a whole, downloadable PowerPoint presentations and student worksheets, and a series of visual resources for the students to complete and discuss.
Prizes were awarded by a prestigious panel, including Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region.
