Darren Smith, Ambassador

Darren is a Senior Architect who believes that a successful architectural intervention must be the result of a thorough site reading, drawing on both the physical content and the emotional resonance of the site, as well as the exploration of a buildings programme, typology or functions in relation to its users. He says a design should respond with appropriate use of materials, space and light in a way that makes architecture that truly is fit for humanities physical and emotional needs.

Darren joined AECOM in 2022 having previously worked at Falconer Chester Hall and Sheppard Robson. He studied at the University of Lincoln for his undergraduate degree and then at the University of Liverpool for his post-graduate degree. He also helped to establish an in-house architecture practice in Liverpool for a local property developer.
